Quoted from RD Debbie Kusy via NAR list:

"I would like to again publicly thank the Warwick Valley Cat Fanciers and their small, but hard-working club members, for once again putting on the regional show and banquet. The Matamoras facility is almost ideal - more centrally located in the region, easy to get to from most areas (except where I live, in far SE PA, but it is a beautiful drive along Rt. 209 through the Poconos,so it makes up for the extra driving time) a nice show hall and banquet hall nearby, etc. John Adelhoch, Tony Nardone and Claudia Hasay do such a great job. The decorations were simple, and very tasteful, beautiful spring colors of pink and green. The setting at the banquet facility is just stunning, with the Delaware River in the background, lots of natural wildlife etc. The woman who runs the facility told me on Sunday morning that some of the cat folks had come by on Sunday morning to see the beauty of the area in the daylight. There are ducks and geese in the river, lots of Whitetail deer, squirrels, etc. It was truly a peaceful setting.

Congratulations to all of our top winners, Sophia already has them up on the website. Thanks to Sophia for getting these up so quickly and for doing the awards booklet - it looked great. Thanks to Kathryn Brady, who handed the breed rosettes. Thanks also to Carolyn Jiminez, who drove up on Saturday afternoon and took photos of the folks getting their awards, those ill also be up on the website soon. Carolyn and Claudia also put together a really cool “Animoto” of the 75 top award winners, this was playing when folks came into the banquet area. Also playing during dinner was the scroll of NAR grands and color winners, done beautifully by Nancy Jenkins, as always. Nancy Sullivan decorated the awards envelopes beautifully, in keeping with the banquet colors. Our primary announcers for the evening were Iris Zinck, Gary Veach, Sharon Roy and Jeri Zottoli. All did a fabulous job.

As previously mentioned, Mike Jacobi was the winner of the Clerk of the Year Award. This award used to be given every year in every region; I believe that I was the last recipient about 15 years ago. When the Clerk's Association disappeared, the award went with it, which is really a shame - it is a very nice tribute. Sharon Roy suggested reviving the award and nominated Mike - an excellent choice! I believe that Mike was somewhat overwhelmed!

Our Spotlight/Exhibitor of the Year award went to Claudia Hasay. Sharyn Hauck had suggested Claudia to me some time ago, our voting committee all agreed that she was an outstanding choice. In addition to her work in the region, she was also the coordinator with the Breed Council Secretaries for the seemingly 1000's of questions for the first "Meet the Breeds" event at the Jacob Javitz Center in New York last October. Many commented that she should have been elevated to sainthood for her patient work with that event - I did contact the Pope regarding this, but of course the Vatican requires THREE miracles, not just one for elevation to sainthood, so Claudia will have to come up with two more......

If I have forgotten anyone, it is entirely unintentional. Of course the exhibitors who breed and show these beautiful cats should also be thanked - if it weren't for them, we wouldn't be here at all!"
